Conn Trombone Serial Number List

Please don't look your serial (980028) up in any of the regular Conn serial number lists, because it will give you a false date (1962). From about 1985 the various incarnations of Conn started re-using serial numbers. As was said above, the Vintage One is a relatively recent instrument and production on it started well after the period covered by most serial number lists, including mine.
In case you are curious, I maintain a database with Conn serials I find on eBay and other places (I don't record people or dates I saw the instrument, only serial, model number, model name, type of instrument). While 980029 isn't in there, there is a 36K Sousaphone with serial 980087. Before that is a 16E Mellophonium with serial 979817. Since Conn serials tend to run in batches of instrument type (and often instrument types in an approximate order), chances are 980028 was either a mellophone or a sousaphone, or at least a larger brass instrument.
Regards, Christine
